Breast augmentation ,Boob job, Mammoplasty surgery are plastic surgery terms of the breast implants or fat grafts used to increase the size of your breasts or restore breast volume that has been lost after losing weight or pregnancy, and may also be used for breast reconstruction after mastectomy or injury.
Breast augmentation candidates
- May be a candidate for breast augmentation surgery if:
- Breasts are completely developed
- Are upset by feeling that your breasts are small
- Are uncomfortable with your breasts shape and volume after pregnancy,
- weight loss, breast feeding, or with aging
- Are unhappy with the upper section of your breast appearing “empty”

Types of breast implants
Three types of breast implants are the most common :
Silicone gel implants , available as a liquid, a gel, or a solid form
Saline (sterile salt water) implants
Fat transfer breast augmentaion, this is an option for ladies who are looking for a relatively small increase in breast size and prefer natural results.
Each type has advantages and disadvantages, although most people choose to use implants filled with silicone.
Breast implants generally have a life expectancy of 10 to 15 years, after which they may need to be replaced.
How does Breast implant surgery done?
During the operation, a cut (incision) will be made in the skin next to the breast(s), your surgeon will discuss with you the location of the incisions beforehand so you’re aware of where the scars will be.
After that, the implant is placed between the breast tissue and chest muscle, or behind the chest muscle, then, the incision is stitched and covered with a bandage.
Breast implant operation is usually performed under general anaesthetic, and takes between 1 and 2 hours.

The time required for recovery from breast augmentation varies between patients. In general, you need to take 5-7 days. You can do your activities of daily living and walk as much as you want. Most people are able to return to their normal life in this amount of time, including light exercise. Be sure to carefully discuss this with our plastic surgeon.
You may be worried your breasts look unnatural at first, but this is normal and temporary. Your breasts will usually start to look and feel better within a few weeks.
